I seem to be out on the edge, he said, sitting on a spiritual ledge
I can’t stand up, I’m afraid of falling; waiting for a final call I found myself adrift, he said, looking for some kind of lift I can’t wake up, I’m afraid of sleeping; waiting in the reject heap She raised her arms and rolled the mists away; whispered words to warm my heart I breathe her name, I know her now; you - it’s you … Undeniably she said, I’m Madame Rescue Lady Saviour, Soul Retriever, Sage and Comfort, your believer Passion Healer, Hearts Reviver; never leave you I found myself alive, he smiled, looking at the sun and sky Golden she came through the shimmering light, to greet the day, dismiss the night She lit my flame, she raised the fires, awoke my dwindling desires My love, my life, my everything; set me free to dance and sing … and Undeniably she said, I’m Madame Rescue Lady Saviour, Soul Retriever, Sage and Comfort, your believer Passion Healer, Hearts Reviver; never leave you When life takes a turn for the worse; when there seems to be no end to things going wrong; when ‘all is lost’ … there can be a ‘rescue’. When one is in a deep hole, maybe even a clinical depression, this illness can make you think that there will be no end to it. Depression makes you lose focus and makes concentration very difficult; it becomes terribly hard to make even simple decisions and one is lost in a grey inertia. Sometimes it can feel this way when a relationship has ended, too. Over the years I knew people who fell into such dark holes but who were rescued by the support and love of a partner, be it their current one or a new one. In this song I have given the male gender to the person who is ‘on the edge’ and the almost mystical, magical rescuer is female … but the song does not have to be gender specific, so feel to apply gender how ever you feel. |
